Midsomer Norton Town Council can announce that the budget and precept for the financial year 2025/2026 was approved at the Full Town Council meeting held on Monday 3rd February 2025.
The budget outlines the total planned expenditure for the Town Council over the financial year, detailing how funds will be allocated across various services and projects. While the precept is the portion of the budget that is funded by local council tax. The precept is the amount the Town Council requests from Bath & North East Somerset Council to cover its planned expenses for the upcoming financial year.
Following extensive deliberation, the Town Council approved the budget for the year 2025/2026 and set a precept of £613,907, the Band D council tax equivalent of £147.91, representing an 8.45% increase from the previous year. This decision comes after careful consideration of the growing pressures on household incomes and the rising cost of living.
Councillors expressed their awareness of the financial challenges faced by residents and emphasised their commitment to maintaining services and supporting the community.
